About me
James is a dynamic performer, director and educator with over 20 years experience in Australia, Japan and the UK. A company member of Frank theatre for over 15 years, James trains and teaches Suzuki method physical theatre.
He performed at Shakespeare’s Globe UK as part of the International Actor’s Fellowship, with a selected handful of artists from around the world, coached by Timothy Walker, Master of the Words Giles Block, Master of Movement Glynn MacDonald, and Master of Voice Martin McKellan. James was invited in 2016 to participate in workshops with ground-breaking Uk theatre company Complicité, where he worked with Jos Houbon, Clive Mendes & Kirsty Housley. With Frank Theatre, he performed the title role in Badengood for Tadashi Suzuki’s Toga International Theatre Festival Japan. In December 2023 he attended the Gecko Theatre residency in Ipswich, London and will be incorporating this into the work.
James is a registered secondary school teacher, regularly directing innovative work for teenagers, winning multiple awards at Dramafest (Chatroom, Lion Boy, Numerical Man amongst others). James was the Drama teacher and Drama Coordinator at Saint Stephen’s College for 7 years.
His wide-ranging repertoire includes Shakespearean roles Hamlet, Macbeth, Benedick (Much Ado About Nothing), Orsino (Twelfth Night), Caliban (The Tempest), absurdist works Vladimir (Waiting for Godot), Clove (Endgame), contemporary Australian Carbon Dating (multiple roles), Fraser (Sweer Phoebe), children’s theatre Pirates vs Dinosaurs (Captain Milkbeard). He was recently nominated Best Supporting Actor at the LA Indie Short Festival and LA IndieX Festival for his role in The Celebrant.
